Jackie De Tore is a reporter and fill-in anchor at WNEP Newswatch 16 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. You’ll often see her out in the field with a camera and tripod in hand because as a multi-media journalist, Jackie can shoot, edit and produce her own stories.
Before coming to WNEP, one of the highest rated local news stations in the country, Jackie was an anchor and reporter at WABI TV 5. During her time at the CBS affiliate in Bangor, Maine, she covered everything from education, the fishing industry and mill layoffs. She also produced and anchored the weekend newscasts.
In February of 2012, Jackie was chosen as the winning reporter for KABC’s “On The Red Carpet” College Journalist Contest, beating out over 200 college journalists nationwide. As the winner, she reported live on the red carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards for ABC. Jackie had the opportunity to co-report along side Cameron Mathison for a live pre-show and web show. During which time, she interviewed Hollywood’s biggest stars including George Clooney, Jason Segel, Tina Fey and Meryl Streep.
A Hofstra University Alum with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism, Jackie covered Long Island news for WRHU-FM and Hofstra Today. She won numerous awards at WRHU, including 2011 and 2012 On-Air Talent of the Year and first place for the Associated Press Bill Leaf Memorial Award best regularly scheduled local news program. Jackie was also one of two students selected to represent Hofstra for the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
